selection is complete in the trial of mayor sheila dixon. >> panel that is deciding her guilt or innocence is dominated by women. joy has been at the courthouse all day and is live with the latest. joy? >>reporter: well it took 2 tedious days but finally a jury has been seated in the trial against mayor sheila dixon. and it's a jury that the defense stated as well as the mayor seems satisfied with. how is jury selection progressing. >> it's interesting. >>reporter: as mayor dixon court case enters the second d day, city residents are beginning to weigh in. >> i can't see no jurors in baltimore city convicting her. >> that's her goal don't receipt them convict me. >>reporter: attorney warren brown believes dixon defense has the advantage going into opening statement. >> they only need one juror out of those 12 to remain steadfast in their resolve not to convict. >>reporter: the jury seated

for more information on the trial just log on to fox baltimore.com and click on the dixon on trial icon. >> there is no hope left for john allen muhammad. sniper who terrorized the dc belt wear area seven years ago is set to be executed tonight. we are live outside the greensville correctional center where muhammad is put to death in less than 4 hours now. jeff? >>reporter: well, john allen muhammad has said goodbye to his final 3 visitors here at the prison. few moments ago his oldest son, his first wife and her fiance said their goodbyes. he is now 3 and a half hours away from death. with his appeals in the court system now fully exhausted, today virginia governor refused to grant him clemency. at 9:00 o'clock tonight the sniper who terrorized the dc area for seven years will die by lethal injection and many of the victims family members will be here to witness it. >> even folks who generally

are uncomfortable with the death penalty look at this case and say if anyone deserves it muhammad certainly does. >> my interest would be for him to show remorse. always have the loss of our brother and the scars of what we have had to deal with. >>reporter: we are told muhammad did select a final meal here at the prison and has already consumed it but he refused to release the contents of that meal. live at southern virginia tonight, news at 5:30. >> and what do we know about the people who will witness the muhammad execution. >>reporter: there will be 2 separate witness rooms for this execution. one room houses 4 members of the immediate why and 6 official state witnesses. the other room will have victims, family members where the state has been very tight lipped about how many of those family members of the victim will be here tonight. but few moments ago our sources told us at

to a hospital. he's expected to be okay. 5 students who are not from that school are being questioned. and student is cut on his arm at maritime industry high school in northeast baltimore. he was taken to hopkins. the suspect is another student who fled the scene. 2 teenagers are indicted for stealing the car of a girl who was found dead in the city of baltimore. 16 year old boy arrested last month charged with stealing the parents volvo. ann drove the car when she ran away from home to baltimore city last year. so far no arrest have been made in her death. human trafficking charges dropped against the man who police say ran a brothel at 2 baltimore houses. john joining us with more on a case originally considered very, very strong. john? >>reporter: that's right, jeff. police call them well organized houses of prostitution but the case against the alleged ring leader eventually fell apart. police raided the house one year ago. 200 block of south

collins avenue. they responded to numerous complaints from neighbors charging documents say the 2 women were brought into the u.s. from mexico to work as prostitutes. carlos was charged with human trafficking. prosecutors have dropped the charges for what they call a lack of sufficient evidence. big disappointment to area residents. >> this whole neighborhood has become certainly much more livable but then to have something like that going on 10 blocks or 10 houses away, is a little disconcerting and disappointing obviously that they didn't have enough evidence to be able to follow through with charges e-prosecutors say some of the evidence in this case also disappeared from the police department. they say the 2 alleged prostitutes have refused to testify in the case. this is fox 45 news at 5:30. how are the roads looking tonight. kandace has the traffic edge report. kandace? >>reporter: thank you jennifer. we are checking in on the speeds for you and so far you will like the commute on 95 traveling in the northeast corner now looking

at 51 miles per hour there and 36 on top end of the belt way. so that is where it does dip down a bit. jfx now looking at 50 miles per hour the west side of the belt way all in all pretty much a slow go but then much better on 95 traveling through howard county area. look at that. 70 miles per hour and going a little bit over the speedlimit there. wave very serious accident though involving an overturned tanker truck on pennington avenue. right at ordinance road. hazmat crew on the scene. this is really commanding a lot of attention. stick with route 2 as the alternate. we can show you what it looks like on the belt way in the area at quarantine road. you cap see both a lot of cars on the inner loop and outer loop side but again no significant delays to talk about once finally on 695. crash there on route 1 at lands town road so use 95 as the alternate routes. that's a look at the evening travels. now back over to you. >> thank you. another warm day but the cooler temperatures are moving in. yes. vytas will be joining us with the sky watch

>> 19 horses belonging to baltimore city rappers confiscated by authorities. kathleen has more on why the horses were taken and stable also shut down. kathleen? >>reporter: authorities with the humane society labeled the conditions at this stable as inhumane. however the a.rappers argue the horses are fine and blame city officials for the living conditions. the horses were inspected by vets from animal control and the humane society. authorities say the horses were living in unsafe conditions and sleeping in their own feces. a.rappers deny the allegations and blame the city for keeping the animals in temporary tent and not building a permanent stable. >> any bed in america will cross these and come over and check our horses they are in good shape. all the horses.

it's the environment. rat running around. water puddle. how are we going to control that? >>reporter: tonight the horses are at the day end horse rescue farm. a.rappers may face several code violation. city officials will meet with them later this week to decide the fate of that stable. this is fox 45 news at 5:30. baltimore police dog shot by an officer over the weekend is expected to make a full recovery. blade was shot sunday night while he was pursuing a suspect. dog mistook an officer for the suspect and attacked him. officer had no choice but to shoot the dog. blade underwent surgery at the animal hospital. other than a limp he's doing fine. >> like everything. things happen. these dogs are highly trained. it was just an accident. trainers will start testing him to see if he has any adverse reaction to gunfire or loud noises stuff like that. >>reporter: and after the canine trainers evaluate blade, they will then decide if he's allowed back on the

force. massive 1.1 trillion dollar health reform measure could cost heck of a lot more than that both in real dollars and political promises. democrats promise legislation and money to state whose representatives agreed to vote for the measure and 2 dozen programs were added to the legislation without knowing how to fund them. >> i think it is misleading. i think these people are supposed to represent the citizens of the united states and i don't think they do i think they tried to get this passed as quickly as possible. as much as possible. i think the public has no idea everything that is covered in this bill. it's incredible. >>reporter: federal funding for abortion, for instance, is a key debate. in the senate version of the measure funding was removed from the house version. you can learn a lot more about health care reform by logging on to fox baltimore.com and clicking on the cure for health care icon. >> another warm day but it feels like fall soon. vytas

joins us with the first look at the sky watch forecast. >>reporter: we are seeing the temperatures slide down a little bit cooler air moves in from the northwest and we have showers building in from the south actually on radar hd radar right now. you can see the leading edge of heavy rain fall down towards richmond and looks like that is the leading edge of what is the remnant left over from what was hurricane ida made land fall, became tropical storm then depression. now low pressure that is moving up through parts of the south dropping heavy amounts of rain. we see the northern fringe of that but having a hard time moving further north along i-95 as we see a little bit of dryer air moving in out of the north and then also a frontal boundary pushing in from the northwest. see that precipitation flat eping out over central virginia and it will have a hard time getting up here but nonetheless we probably get some rain out of this later this evening overnight and then into tomorrow morning. sought grounds a little bit wet. a lot of precipitation to work with further south and take a look at this area of low pressure wrapping in the moisture as it makes its way through the carolinas especially eastern portions of

ravens todd heat paid a visit to the school. fifth grader travis justin won the prize in the take a raven to school contest. very cheerful welcome he took center stage in the gym to talk to students about the importance of staying fit. >> i think it's a great program that the nfl does something i support greatly. teaching kids to be active and live a healthy lifestyle so travis did a good job by, you know, making sure this is all possible. i'm just excited to be here. >>reporter: todd and his new friend travis got to lead a gym class today, too. >> ravens and todd try to get back on track with a win against the browns monday night. john harbaugh thoughts on the browns coming up next in sports.
